Responsibility
Requirement Understanding and Analysis
- Understand the requirements functional design document ETL requirements from the BA/ onsite counterparts.
- Analyze for gaps check feasibility from the design perspective and seek any clarifications (iterative process).
- Data Discovery & Profiling.
- Analyze data available in the source systems to check for format quality etc.
- In case data is not in the required format define translation rules (simple & standard) or seek support from the architects to define the rules.
- Understand the requirement with respect to reporting.
- Design.
- Based on the understanding of requirements high level architecture (data model and layers) create the detailed design documents (source tables target tables fields to be extracted.
- joints in the tables.
- translation rules/ logic to be applied from source to target for each job).
- Create mapping documents (data flow maps error handling user security / access rules etc ) required for development.
- Create scheduling document/ run book (flow data and time of when the jobs need to be done etc) required for the support/ administration team.
- Design recovery documents containing detailed error handling technical information (related to data/ server scenarios and abortion etc) documents for the developers to follow.
- Seek validation/ review from relevant stakeholders (client technical team etc).
- Create LLD report and dashboard design document required for BI projects.
- Coding.
- Provide guidance (for improving performance better way to code etc) to the development team.
- consolidate issues/ clarifications from the developers and resolve the same.
- Monitor performance of data movement and resolve such issues.
- Monitor adherence to SLAs.
More Responsibilities
- Highlight issues to the onsite /Technical (admin) team /client (based on project).
- Review the code (high level) developed to confirm the flow that has been followed or handling that can be changed/ added code improvement etc).
- Based on the data built monitor report generation (required by various users) using tools and check if it meets the requirements (format logo presentation etc)
- Testing Management.
- Review the unit test cases test data.
- Verify issues if any.
- Provide support to set up the test environment.
- Coordinate with other teams (if required) to get the test data.
- Post testing by the developers conduct a high level review the output.
- Deployment.

- provide ongoing status on progress to the relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge Management.
- Create/ contribute to document development (case study lessons learnt etc) as required.
- People Management.
- Conduct technical face to face interviews (as part of organization contribution activities).
- Provide feedback for performance appraisals for the development team.
- Co ordinate with the project/program manager in understanding how the employee can better contribute to the project seek feedback and address concerns.
